MONTREAL (CP) - Nearly 49,000 Quebecers are without power following a violent wind storm that blew across the province.
Hydro-Quebec services were disrupted throughout the province by downed trees and power lines.
Power was cut to about 17,000 homes in the Laurentians region north of Montreal, as well as about 2,500 homes in the eastern section of the island of Montreal.
Officials at the Crown corporation could not say how long it would take to restore power.
A wind warning was in effect Sunday, with winds expected to gust up to 100 km/h in part of the province.
