Global Database of Operational Power Generation Plants for 2006 Currently Lists 18,602 Generating Plants Worldwide In 184 Countries

The database is comprehensive over the capacity range and is not restricted to large plants

662 plants with installed capacity of 1,000 MW and over are listed, 742 plants from 500 to 1,000 MW, 6,883 plants from 1MW to 50 MW, and 3,610 plants with capacity below 1 MW

All sections of the industry are covered, utilities, independent power producers (IPPs) and captive power plants (CPPs).

7,114 of the companies are utility-owned
