School Bus Crash Claims Life of 4th Teen

Posted on: Tuesday, 21 November 2006, 18:00 CST

A school bus crash in Alabama claimed the life of a fourth teenager on Tuesday.

Crystal Renee McCrary, 17, was pronounced dead shortly after noon, the Huntsville (Ala.) Times reported. Two students at Lee High School in Huntsville were declared dead at the scene of where the bus plunged off a highway overpass Monday morning. A third girl died crash injuries soon after at a hospital.

The four girls were among 43 students traveling from the high school to the Huntsville Center for Technology at about 10 a.m.

Investigators say that the bus collided with a 1990 Toyota Celica driven by another Lee High School student and then went off the overpass. The bus driver, who was severely injured, was found on top of the overpass but police were unsure if he was thrown from the vehicle or jumped.

The bus landed nose first after dropping about 30 feet. The most severely injured students were sitting in front.

The other dead students were identified as Christine Collier, 16; Tanesha Hill, 17; and Nicole Ford, 19.
