Nov. 29–LIMA — Police recorded its ninth homicide of the year Tuesday when a Chicago man shot in the head late Sunday died. Marcus R. Green, 24, died at St. Rita’s Medical Center on Tuesday, hospital spokeswoman Linda Chartrand said. Green was shot once in the head about 11 p.m. Sunday outside a home at 543 E. Second St. Lima police Lt. Jim Baker said Monday the case was being handled as a homicide because of the injury and the fact Green was on life support. Numerous attempts to reach Baker for comment Tuesday were unsuccessful and messages were not returned. Baker said Monday a man who may have been the shooter was spotted near the victim but no one has been arrested and police do not know the man’s identity. Green was found lying in a pool of blood in the driveway of the home. Police do not have a motive for the shooting, Baker said Monday. Another unanswered question was Green’s connection to Lima, Baker said. Anyone with information on Green’s homicide is asked to call Lima police at 419-227-4444 or Crime Stoppers at 419-229-7867.
