WASHINGTON, Dec. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- International President Warren S. George today announced the resignation of Ann Chiarovano as Administrator of the ATU Local 1181 pension and welfare funds.
Chiarovano's departure was sought by ATU International Vice Presidents Tommy Mullins and Bob Baker, who were recently appointed as trustees of Local 1181, at the first meeting of the funds since the International Union assumed control the New York City school bus local.
Local 1181 was trusteed by George on November 21 after its president and business agent, Salvatore Battaglia, took a leave of absence following his indictment by a federal grand jury on racketeering charges. In a related case Chiarovano pled guilty to obstruction of justice this summer and is currently awaiting sentencing.
