Sun Country Airlines Breaks Passenger Volume Record
Posted on: Friday, 22 December 2006, 12:00 CST
Sun Country Airlines announced that today it will carry the highest volume of passengers in its 24 year history.
"We believe that low cost doesn't have to mean low service, and the consumer response has resulted in this important milestone," said Shaun Nugent, CEO of Sun Country. "I'd like to thank not only our passengers, but the hard-working employees at Sun Country that have made this possible."
The record passenger volume comes during one of the busiest travel weekends of the year. The majority of these passengers will travel through the Humphrey Terminal at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport. The airport, recognized for its ease and convenience, serves as Sun Country's hub.
"We're happy that a record number of people have made Sun Country a part of their holiday travel plans," said Jim Olsen, COO of Sun Country. "With the continued growth of Sun Country, we look forward to breaking new records in the years to come."
Sun Country Airlines is a low cost, low fare carrier based in St. Paul, MN and was recently acquired by Petters Group Worldwide and Whitebox Advisors. The airline was named in the top 10 lists of domestic airlines in Travel+Leisure and Conde Nast Traveler. Sun Country is following a conservative growth plan which will increase the frequency to its popular destinations such as New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Denver, San Francisco, Orlando, Ft. Myers and Washington, D.C. For a complete list of destinations and more information, please visit Sun Country's website at suncountry.com.
