Press Conference Call: Groundbreaking New Analysis: Public Transportation Saves $Thousands Per Household, Reduces Dependence On Oil

WHAT: On Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007 at 11 a.m. EST, the American Public Transportation Association will release a groundbreaking analysis showing for the first time:

-- $$ SAVED: The specific cost savings per household due to public transportation, which is in the thousands of dollars.

-- GAS SAVED: The amount of gasoline displaced by public transportation use.

Public transportation provides greater freedom, access, opportunity and choice for Americans from all walks of life and from all across the country. Ridership is up 25.1 percent since 1995, and the millions of Americans who use public transportation each weekday know it saves money and gasoline. Thanks to this study, for the first time they will know how much.

APTA is a nonprofit international association of over 1,500 member public transportation departments and organizations. The study was commissioned from ICF international.
