Text of report by Russian news agency Regnum on 9 January
[No dateline as received] The refurbishment of Khrami-2 hydroelectric power station, which has been under way for several years, will be completed in the next few days, a Regnum news agency correspondent was told at the Georgian Energy Ministry.
At present a single 50-MW hydroelectric power generation unit operates at Khrami-2. Once the refurbishment work has been completed, a second unit will be switched on, raising Khrami-2′s aggregate capacity to 100 MW. Apart from repairs to the second hydroelectric power generation unit, the refurbishment process has included repairs to a number of the station’s installations and equipping them with a modern control system supplied by Siemens.
The 20m-dollar refurbishment project has been funded using a Japanese government loan and co-financing by the Georgian side. The rated capacity of Khrami-2 is 110 MW, while its yearly average rated power output is 184m kWh.
