Bomb Threat Called in From Plane in Ohio

TOLEDO, Ohio – Emergency crews responded to a bomb threat Friday morning after a cell phone call from a passenger aboard an American Eagle plane at Toledo Express Airport, officials said.

It wasn’t immediately clear how many people were on the plane.

The 911 call came in about 10:30 a.m., acting Deputy Fire Chief Greg Locher said. He did not say whether the caller found out about the threat or was the one making the threat.

The plane was isolated on a runway far from the passenger terminal. Authorities had not determined whether there actually was a bomb aboard, said Scott Wilson, an FBI spokesman in Cleveland.

About a dozen fire trucks and emergency vehicles were parked at the edge of another runway. Other planes were still taking off and landing at their airport.

The Federal Aviation Administration said it was aware of the situation but had no information. The Transportation Security Administration did not immediately return messages seeking comment.
