Viewpoints Our Airport Can Handle Extra Flights

Following the saga of Bristol Airport’s problems and the re- routing of many flights to Cardiff International Airport, it makes me wonder if we really have an international airport.

These sort of bread and butter flights should be landing here in Wales anyway. The very fact that we can handle them says the capacity is there.

Ten thousand people every day instead of the 3,500 we are seeing at present.

I bet our economy received a boost from all this.

Did the road network struggle? No.

OK, so 1 appreciate that most people were coached in but we could make it work.

The talk is always about a dual carriageway road to the airport and that seems to be the only way, apart from the rail link and connecting bus service.

Have any of our bright councillors and politicians considered the possibility of lane control similar to North Road, Cardiff.

The roads are almost wide enough already, and of course, would be able to be switched at peak times to cope with both the morning and afternoon rush hour periods.

Try adding the M42 (south and east of Birmingham) variable speed camera method every so many metres apart. They seem to keep traffic flowing and those intent on speeding in check.
