- Russia, Eu, Poland Still in Consultations on Meat Imports; Yushchenko Threatens to Return Bill on the Cabinet to Parliament
KYIV. Jan 18 (Interfax) – Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko has said he may send a bill on the Cabinet of Ministers back to the Verkhovna Rada.
Addressing reporters in Kyiv on Thursday, he said the Constitution allowed him such an option.
The bill’s version approved by parliament on January 12 differs from the one that was passed on December 21 and contains changes unstipulated by presidential proposals from January 11, 2007, Yushchenko said.
He noted that the bill violated both the Constitution and existing agreements between the president, the prime minister and the parliamentary speaker.
The statement came after Thursday’s session of the National Security and Defense Council.
