Ukraine Says US Anti-Missile Bases in Europe to Help Fight Terrorism
Text of report by Ukrainian news agency UNIAN
Kiev, 23 January: Ukraine views the intention of the USA to deploy elements of the anti-ballistic missile system in the Czech Republic and Poland as an additional component in combating terrorism, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry’s press service has said in a commentary forwarded to the UNIAN today.
The ministry said in the commentary: “The joint use of the early warning systems located in Ukraine together with the Russian Federation gives reasons to believe that the deployment of elements of the anti-ballistic missile system in the Czech Republic and Poland will help enhance the international community’s potential in combating the proliferation and use of weapons of mass destruction.”
As reported earlier, the US administration wants to deploy the American anti-ballistic missile system in Poland and the Czech Republic. These countries’ governments have not responded to the proposal yet.
