Coleman Natural Foods Partners With Renowned Local Chefs; Supports Minneapolis Women's Expo
Posted on: Thursday, 25 January 2007, 09:01 CST
Coleman Natural Foods, LLC, hosts the "Coleman Natural Food Stage" at this weekend's 2007 Minneapolis Women's Expo January 26, 27 and 28, at the Minneapolis Convention Center. This year marks the 15th anniversary of the expo, and features exhibits, seminars, celebrities, shopping, health info and food sampling.
Coleman Natural Foods also presents two nationally recognized chefs at the Coleman Natural food stage during the weekend: Chef Lenny Russo and Chef John Michael Lerma will be demonstrating delicious recipes as well as discussing how to incorporate sustainable, natural and organic ingredients into everyday meals. Chef John Michael Lerma, the author of "Garden County -- Where Everyone is Welcome to Sit at the Table," can be seen on the Food Network and was a winner at the 2005 and 2006 National Pie Championships.
Lenny Russo is executive chef of the Cue and Level 5 Café restaurants at the new Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, which are operated for the Guthrie by Bon Appétit Management Company, a food service provider that specializes in locally and sustainably sourced foods. Russo is known for working with local farmers who provide seasonal and artisanal products from the region. "I work locally and sustainably because I believe it is the right thing to do even though I have to sacrifice some profit in the process. It's not always about the money. It is very important to me to know the provenance of what I buy and also to know the farming methods that are employed," says Russo.
Bon Appetit regional manager David Ramlow said, "Bon Appetit is known for its culinary expertise and commitment to socially responsible food sourcing and business practices. We're proud to work with chefs like Lenny Russo, and a company like Coleman that supports independent family farmers and ranchers."
Mel Coleman, Jr., the chairman of Coleman Natural Foods, will be in attendance on Friday, January 26th. "We maintain a strong local commitment to every community we serve," said Coleman. "We believe by working hard to create a truly better product -- one that never, ever uses antibiotics, growth hormones, artificial additives -- while also treating animals right and replenishing natural resources, that we're able to meet a triple bottom line: to the local communities in which we do business, to our stakeholders and to the environment," he said.
Health and wellness products are the fastest growing segment in the food and beverage industry, with a greater number of consumers seeking better-for-you options without sacrificing taste. Coleman's clean label reveals nothing but simple, natural ingredients and pure, great taste.
"We are absolutely thrilled to be involved in the Minneapolis Women's Expo as a sponsor," said Chuck Fletcher, Coleman Natural Foods' chief marketing officer. "This is an exciting event for the Twin Cities, and a great opportunity for us to share our great tasting all natural products in one of our favorite markets," he said. "Unlike conventional meats, we use only the finest all-natural ingredients to deliver the best, purest taste, texture and color. Coleman is working hard to become the best selling all natural and organic protein at grocery stores throughout the Twin Cities area," he added.
Blaine Kunze, show manager for the Minneapolis Women's Expo, actively sought out a natural and organic food company as a partner for this year's expo. "We wanted to start this process of informing the public about how much better this food is. When I was a kid and my grandma grew crops in our backyard, they were just natural foods: they didn't use antibiotics or pesticides. We've gotten so far away from that today, that I thought it was time to get back to that perspective."
Coleman Natural Foods will also conduct a raffle during the expo. Prizes include gift certificates to Festival Foods, Cue Restaurant, Heartland Restaurant, Coleman Natural Foods coupons, and signed copies of John Michael Lerma's Garden County Cookbook.
