WOOD Group’s gas turbines operation has won a 16-year deal worth a total of around dollars-92m (GBP46.7m) to help maintain a plant in the Sultanate of Oman in the Middle East. The contract, which covers the maintenance of eight General Electric Frame 9E turbines at the formerAl-Rusail Power Company was awarded to Wood Group by Suez, the French energy giant. The latest success comes roughly two years after the turbines unit won a contract covering a plant in Thailand from a separate subsidiary of Suez. Last month, Aberdeen-based Wood said business was up across the three main areas of the oil services group, gas turbine services, engineering and production, in 2006.
