Man Arrested on Immigration Warrant

Jan. 27–Austin police arrested a 42-year-old man, wanted by immigration officials for previously being deported, while conducting a search warrent Thursday.
Authorities apprehended Hiliodoro Mendez Tucar, also known as Jesus Manuel Sanchez, on warrants from the Immigration & Customs Enforcement, Mower County and Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, Austin Police Capt. Curt Rude said Friday.
After learning of Tucar’s whereabouts, Austin police conducted a search warrant at a residence in the 300 block of First Avenue Northwest, Rude said.
Tucar was deported from the country once before, Rude said, and had a Mower County warrant for failing to appear in court for driving-related charges, including leaving the scene of an accident.
He was wanted in Iowa for forgery and theft charges.
