Feb. 4–KELLER — Shed a tear for propane advocate Hank Hill this weekend.

A thief took six propane bottles — yes, the same type that Hill sells on the Fox network’s King of the Hill — from a Valero gasoline station Jan. 25.

An employee told police that the 17-pound bottles were locked up when he closed the station in the 1000 block of South Main Street the night of Jan. 24.

He did not notice the bottles missing when he arrived for work the next morning but called police a few hours later when he could not find them.

The bottles had not been recovered.

Police believe cold weather may have prompted the thief to take the bottles — total value $251.94 — to use as a source of heat.

Cold or not, Hill would probably be counting his blessing that the propane accessories were left at the station.
