Kazakh, US Officials Discuss Cooperation in Energy Sector

Astana, 6 February. Kazakh Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Baktykozha Izmukhambetov and US Assistant Secretary for Economic, Energy and Business Affairs Daniel Sullivan have discussed the development of the oil transport system of Kazakhstan, the ministry’s press service has told this agency.
According to the press service, during the meeting, Izmukhambetov in particular briefed those present on the current situation in the oil and gas sector, on problems and prospects for trilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan, USA and Russia.
In the course of the negotiations, the sides also discussed the potential of the Trans-Caspian oil and gas pipeline; Kazakhstan’s Caspian transport system; issues concerning the Caspian Pipeline Consortium and an oil and gas pipeline from Kazakhstan to China; as well as possible cooperation in the oil and gas sector between Kazakhstan and USA.
