We Haven’t Had This Little Snow Since JFK Was President
By Nancy Yang, Pioneer Press, St. Paul, Minn.
Feb. 16–The Twin Cities hasn’t gotten this little snow this late into winter in 46 years, the National Weather Service said today.
So far, only 12.1 inches of snow have fallen at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport. The last time we had so little snow by Feb. 14 was the winter of 1960-61.
The average snowfall in Minnesota is just over 38 inches per winter.
The minimal snowfall this year has also meant no snow emergencies in St. Paul. In fact, in the last 16 years, St. Paul has never gone this late into the winter without declaring its first snow emergency.
Previously, the latest first snow emergency of the season was Feb. 3, 2003.
