Nevada Power Company Signs Equipment and Services Contracts for New Peaking Units at Clark Station Generating Plant

Nevada Power Company, a subsidiary of Sierra Pacific Resources (NYSE: SRP), announced today that it has signed equipment and services contracts as part of the construction of new peaking units at Clark Station Generating Plant located in Henderson, Nev.
The contracts include the following companies:
-- Pratt & Whitney will provide 12 FT8(R) Gas Turbines. -- CH2M Hill will be responsible for complete engineering, procurement and construction for the project.
As part of its Integrated Resource Plan, Nevada Power received approval from the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada to build at Clark Station a total of 600 megawatts of new power to be used to serve peak load in its southern Nevada territory. The first 400 megawatts is scheduled for completion prior to the summer peak of 2008 with the remaining 200 megawatts following by year's end or earlier.
Nevada Power Company is a regulated public utility engaged in the distribution, transmission, generation, purchase and sale of electric energy in the southern Nevada communities of Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson, Searchlight, Laughlin and their adjoining areas.
