Viewpoints St Athan and Airport Need Better Links
It was with utter disbelief and disgust that I read in the Echo that the Welsh Assembly Government could renege on its promise to upgrade the road to Cardiff International Airport and St Athan.
Even without the successful Metrix deal, the airport has been in desperate need of better road and rail links.
I feel the ideal solution would be a dual carriageway link from the M4 motorway direct to the airport.
The Labour-led Assembly Government was supposed to have been planning a similar scheme but perhaps it was too good an idea.
The new owners of Cardiff International Airport have already increased the number of airlines using the airport.
The number of passengers wanting to use the airport will grow. This, of course, will include thousands of people involved in the Metrix deal.
It is absolutely essential, therefore, that the road infrastructure is put into place as soon as possible.
Rhodri Morgan and his Assembly Government should be making every effort to help make the Metrix deal a success, not scupper it before it can even get under way.
