Frontier Airlines Connects Northern California to the Golden Beaches of Mexico Just in Time for Spring Break

Posted on: Friday, 2 March 2007, 15:00 CST

DENVER, March 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Frontier Airlines will begin non-stop service on March 3, 2007 to Cabo San Lucas (SJD) with three flights per week from Sacramento (SMF) and four flights per week from San Jose (SJC). The new service, which will be aboard Frontier's new fleet of Airbus A319 aircraft, featuring 33 inches of legroom along with 24 channels of DIRECTV and pay-per-view movies in every seat back, kicks off just in time for Spring Break travel. With the launch of this service, Frontier now serves Mexico from more California cities non-stop than any U.S. domestic carrier, flying direct to Mexico from Sacramento, San Jose, San Diego, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Both Sacramento and San Jose will welcome the first travelers to Cabo with mariachi bands and Mexican pastries at the gate.

"The inauguration of flights between San Jose and Cabo San Lucas will bring South Bay travelers closer to one of Mexico's top leisure destinations," said San Jose International Airport's Director of Aviation William Sherry. "Frontier's new service is an excellent addition for our airport and region, and I know it will become a popular service because of Frontier's solid reputation and attractive convenience."

"Frontier Airlines offers convenient, nonstop access to Los Cabos to Northern California travelers," said Hardy Acree, Sacramento County Airport System Director of Airports. "The nonstop also provides Mexican travelers with nonstop access to Sacramento, the world-class wine regions in Northern California and Tahoe, internationally known for its outdoor sports."

The addition of these flights is part of Frontier's plan for strategic growth to Mexico from across its system, especially Northern California. In addition to Frontier's service to its Denver hub from San Francisco, Sacramento, and San Jose, Frontier now offers service to all three cities from Cabo San Lucas with non-stops to Sacramento and San Jose, plus direct service from San Francisco. These new Northern California routes join Frontier's service from San Francisco to Los Angeles, which operates five times daily at peak business times; and Frontier's new service from San Francisco to Las Vegas, which began on December 14, 2006.

"We are very excited to offer this new service to Californians who appreciate the value of low fares, excellent customer service and one of the best products in the industry," said John Happ, senior vice president of marketing and planning for Frontier. "We are proud to serve Mexico from more California cities than any other U.S. domestic carrier and as we grow, we will continue to provide excellent service for California travelers."
