Text of report by Polish radio on 7 March

[Announcer] There is a chance that Kazakh oil will start flowing to Poland and then carry on to Western Europe. It is a question of reversing the flow of the energy carrier along the Odessa-Brody pipeline. Right now oil flows along the pipes from Russia to the Caspian Sea area, whereas it is to flow from Kazakhstan, through Georgia and Ukraine, to Poland.

These plans were discussed in Plock by President Lech Kaczynski with Ukraine’s President Viktor Yushchenko. An energy summit about this is to be organized in Poland in May.

President Yushchenko supported the Polish proposals and expressed his satisfaction about the joint approach to the project.

[Yushchenko] I would like to emphasize with great satisfaction that we confirmed the practical implementation of this project. We see the logic of continuing political working contacts connected with this project.

[Announcer] The president of the Ukraine confirmed his country’s striving to integrate with the European Union. He said that was Ukraine’s strategic objective but to attain it Kiev needed allies. He added that an important part in this dialogue would be played by Poland.
