Verizon Wireless HopeLine Internet Action Cafe to Keep National Conference on Health and Domestic Violence Attendees Connected

SAN FRANCISCO, March 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless, the technology sponsor of the Family Violence Prevention Fund's 2007 National Conference on Health and Domestic Violence, will host a HopeLine(R) Internet Action Cafe at this year's conference. The HopeLine Internet Action Cafe will allow health care professionals, researchers, domestic violence advocates, students, and survivors attending the conference to access their e-mail and the Internet via laptops with BroadbandAccess Cards provided by Verizon Wireless. Gateway provided the computers for the Cafe.

Domestic violence incidents cost the health care system $4.1 billion each year for direct medical and mental services according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Center for Injury Prevention and Control. The National Conference on Health and Domestic Violence, which will be held in San Francisco from March 15-17, aims to advance the health care system's response to domestic violence. Workshops and plenary sessions highlight the latest research and most innovative clinical responses to domestic violence.
