J-Power, Mitsui Join Wind Power Project in Poland
Tokyo, March 20 (Jiji Press)–Electric Power Development Co. , better known as J-Power, and Mitsui & Co. said Tuesday they have launched a wind power generation project in Poland in partnership with a Swiss company.
This marks the first time that Japanese companies participate in a wind power generation project in Poland, J-Power and Mitsui said.
The three companies’ joint venture, Zajaczkowo Windfarm Sp. Zo.o., will set up a wind farm with a capacity of 48,000 kilowatts in northern Poland.
Construction of the wind farm is scheduled to start in April for commercial operations set to start in July 2008. All power generated will be sold to Energa S.A., Poland’s state-run power distribution company.
The joint venture, formed in January, is owned 45 pct each by J- Power and Mitsui and 10 pct by the Swiss wind power generation company, WFL Windfarmer AG.END
