Colin liuchanan has bought transport research specialists Vincent Knight in a move to create stronger transport consultancy services.

The merger will allow Colin Buchanan to bring together Vincent Knight’s expertise in traditional methods of measuring transport flows with its own background in technological approaches to assessment.

The company hopes that it can add to Vincent Knight’s experience with roadside interviews and parking surveys with its use of high mast cameras and digital video.

Colin Buchanan associate director of market research and surveys Daniien WilsonPulley said the acquisition creates “a comprehensive and robust range of services to meet the survey needs of all modes of transport”.

Vincent Knight founding director Rupert Emerson said the firms share a similar philosophy and added that both have grown organically.

Vincent Knight was set up in 1987 and has specialised in traffic and transportation studies, including carrying out a large part of the national traffic census for the Department for Transport.
