Scots ‘Safer Drivers Than English’
BRITAIN’S wildest drivers are from England’s West Country, while Scots are safer motorists, according to a survey.
As many as 75per cent of drivers in south-west England have had a car accident, compared with 56per cent of Scots, the poll from price comparison website moneysupermarket. com found.
The survey of 1678 adults also revealed that 29per cent of motorists have had an accident close to home, while 25per cent have crashed on a minor road and 23per cent on an A-road or a dual carriageway route.
Just 5per cent of all drivers – and only 2per cent of women – have crashed on motorways.
Richard Mason, managing director of insurance at moneysupermarket. com, said: “While motorists must remain vigilant at all times, danger clearly lurks close to home.
“This suggests motorists become complacent when navigating familiar routes, often leading to costly prangs.”
