Canadian Airline and Training Center Perimeter Selects Mechtronix Flight Training Device for Innovative Pilot Instruction
MONTREAL, March 26 /PRNewswire/ — Perimeter Aviation, the largest air carrier operating in Northern Manitoba and also a Canadian leader in Multi-Engine Instrument Rating Training, has placed its first order for an FTD supplied by Mechtronix Systems Inc. (MSI), a worldwide provider of flight training solutions based out of Montreal, Quebec. The FTD will allow Perimeter to bring more hours to the simulator and to limit flying hours to Transport Canada’s minimum requirements. The customer’s request for a Metro III Flight Training Device (FTD) reconfigurable to Metro II, compliant with the level 3 requirements under Transport Canada, is MSI’s first order for this kind of platform. Due to Mechtronix’s high engineering expertise and flexibility in designing new configurations, MSI was able to tailor the FTD to Perimeter’s exact needs.
Perimeter’s strong commitment to safety demonstrates itself in the organization’s rigorous recurrent training practices, bringing it beyond Transport Canada’s minimum aircraft training requirements. The FTD supplied by MSI will allow Perimeter to bring more hours to the simulator and to optimize its business by limiting flying hours to Transport Canada’s minimum requirements. The simulator will therefore enable Perimeter to significantly reduce its operational costs while improving the recurrent training quality and ultimately the safety of its operations. In addition, the FTD will also be used as a state of the art high end trainer for Perimeter’s ab-initio students.
“The innovative business case that Mechtronix presented enables us to stick by Transport Canada’s minimum requirements for type rating”, said Dave Dunlop Perimeter’s Chief Pilot of Flight Operations. “We are making huge savings in time and money by not having to perform all of our training in an aircraft. We look forward to establishing a long term relationship with Mechtronix.”
“We are glad to have Perimeter aboard with us and we will continue to work with them by offering the right solution”, said Mechtronix President Xavier Herve.
