A Victory Signal!

Villagers in Mid Wales have won a victory on the siting of two signal masts planned for the Cambrian railway line near their homes.

Network Rail says it has listened to campaigners and will now erect two masts 800m from any houses in Llandre, near Aberystwyth, and Glantwymyn, near Machynlleth.

The company is putting up 30 masts along the 200-mile Cambrian line.

Allowing train drivers to communicate with signallers, they are part of the response to the Ladbroke Grove train crash which killed 31 people in 1999.

Katrina Michael, a campaigner from Glantwymyn, said she was ‘really thrilled’ Network Rail had changed its plans and had come up from London to meet them.
