AirTran to Offer Direct Flights From Bloomington to Vegas: Service to Compete With Peoria Airport

Apr. 11–NEW 2 P.M. BLOOMINGTON — Central Illinois travelers can soon fly from Bloomington to Sin City.

AirTran Airways announced Wednesday it will offer nonstop service from the Central Illinois Regional Airport to Las Vegas four days a week beginning Aug. 15.

Flights will depart Bloomington at 7 a.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Return flights depart Las Vegas at 4:05 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and 2:55 p.m. Sunday.

Fares will start at $109 each way.

The service will compete directly with the Greater Peoria Regional Airport, which offers flights to and from Las Vegas six days a week.

AirTran, one of the longest-serving airlines in Bloomington, also flies from CIRA to Atlanta and Orlando.
