TORONTO (CP) – The family of a 10-year-old boy who died in a school bus accident Wednesday says the boy had a tremendous fear of death ever since his grandparents passed away a few years ago.

His aunt Mai Pham says that’s one of the things she’ll always remember about her plucky nephew who enjoyed reading, computers and playing soccer. Pham says funeral arrangements for the Mississauga, Ont., boy aren’t finalized, but that the family has decided to donate his organs.

John Pham suffered serious head injuries in the Highway 410 crash in Brampton, northwest of Toronto, and was taken off life support late Wednesday night.

Two young girls are still recovering at Toronto’s Hospital For Sick Children, while a third child and the driver of the school bus remain in hospital in Brampton.

Laidlaw Transit Inc., the school bus company chartered to take the class of 27 kids and three adults on a field trip, says it’s conducting its own “internal” investigation” into the accident.

Transport Canada is also reviewing the accident.
