CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico - A speeding bus crashed into a tractor-trailer outside this border city early Saturday, killing at least 23 people and injuring 11 others, authorities said.
The tractor-trailer's gas tank exploded in the wreck, engulfing the bus in flames and trapping many of those who died along a highway near Ciudad Juarez, across the border from El Paso, Texas, said Navil Buchain, a federal police inspector.
The driver, who was speeding, was among the dead, Buchain said.
The bus, from the Omnibus company, was carrying 38 passengers and left Friday night from Jimenez, about 280 miles south of Juarez.
