Georgia to Receive Extra Azeri Gas During Repair Works on Russian Pipeline
Text of report by Georgian news agency Kavkas-Press
Tbilisi, 16 April: From 0600 tomorrow [0100 gmt], Georgia will receive 4m cu.m. of gas per day from Azerbaijan through the South Caucasus pipeline. Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation President Aleksandre Khetaguri said at a news conference today that since Georgia will not receive gas from Russia on 17-18 April, it will be supplied from the Sah Daniz deposit. He added that the pipeline was capable of handling the extra gas and that there would be no problems in this regard.
A relevant agreement was reached with the Sah Daniz Consortium because of Russia’s decision to cut off supplies to Georgia and Armenia for two days in order to carry out planned repair works on the Russia-Georgia trunk pipeline.
Consumers will receive uninterrupted gas supplies despite the ongoing repair works on the trunk pipeline.
