Ukrainian Court Begins Consideration of President’s Dissolution Decree
April 17, 2007
The Constitutional Court of Ukraine has begun the consideration of Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko’s decree of 2 April on the dissolution of parliament and calling an early election for 27 May, the Interfax-Ukraine news agency reported on 17 April.
All 18 judges of the Constitutional Court are attending the hearing, the agency said.
The court’s procedures do not include a clear provision on how long the consideration can last.
Earlier five judges of the Constitutional Court said that they would not attend the hearing due to political pressure. Other two judges were reportedly on a sick.
