Who Owns Iron Stove?
Two youngsters were caught stealing a 6ft cast iron stove as they carried it through Percy Main in North Shields.
Police officers are now trying to reunite the piece of garden furniture with its rightful owner after stopping the youngsters on Sunday night and seizing the wood burner.

Rescue ship
THE navy ship that rescued 1,300 UK citizens from Lebanon last year is seeking people it helped when it visits the North later this year. Old pub blaze
FIREFIGHTERS were called to put out a blaze in a derelict former pub in County Durham yesterday afternoon.
Crews with a turntable ladder fought the blaze at the old Corner House in Station Town, near Hartlepool.
Homes blow
PLANS to build up to 10 new homes in the Northumberland village of Longhirst look set to be rejected by councillors next week.
Castle Morpeth Council planning officers say that although the site at Countryside and Willow Cottages has been used in the past for plant hire, haulage and a piggery, housing development would be contrary to national planning guidance.
Safe drinking
THE universities of Northumbria and Teesside have launched a campaign to promote responsible drinking to nearly 50,000 students.
The Know What’s In It campaign follows the success of a similar scheme earlier in the academic year which highlighted the varying levels of alcohol units to be found in different drinks with posters and beer mats.
Pupil power
A UNIQUE ‘power sculpture’ will next week be presented to Welbeck Community First School in Ashington. It will be handed over by Peter Phillips, CE Electric UK and chainsaw sculptor, Pete Bowsher. The electricity distributor invited schools from across the North to apply for a sculpture carved from waste wood generated by its ongoing vegetation management activity.
