Nightrider Buses Hit Streets
ALL-NIGHT buses will run along the route of Glasgow’s Subway for the first time this weekend.
The underground’s new Nightrider service will start operating when the network shuts on Friday night.
A fleet of buses, running at 20minute intervals, will pick up and drop off passengers at each of the city’s 15 Subway stops.
Hundreds of revellers, bar staff, and shift workers are expected to use the service, which will operate on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.
First Bus will charge users a flat fare of GBP2 for a seat on one of the six Nightrider buses and the vehicles will operate on the inner and outer circle routes of the Subway.
The first Nightriders will run from 11.40pm on Friday until 6.30am the following morning.
The Saturday service will operate from 11.40pm through to 10am, while the Sunday buses will run between 6pm and 11.30pm.
Transport bosses backed the GBP300,000 15-month pilot following criticism over the restricted opening hours of the Subway.
The Evening Times highlighted the concerns of passengers through our Get Glasgow Moving campaign.
