Text Messaging Directly From '411' Now Even Easier for Wireless Customers Served By Verizon LiveSource

NEW YORK, April 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Millions of cell phone users nationwide will have the option to reply to a "411" text message to activate automatic delivery of text messages for all future numbers they request from directory assistance.
This innovation by Verizon's LiveSource group lets customers preset text- delivery of directory assistance listings quickly and easily. The new feature, which enhances the personalization of customers' 411 service, is available now to wireless carriers and their customers served by LiveSource.
Previously, a voice prompt asked 411 callers each time they called if they wanted to have a text message with the listing sent to their wireless handset. With the new service, a trailer at the bottom of messages sent by LiveSource will instruct callers to reply "ACCEPT" to establish automatic text-message delivery for all future calls. Customers can use the listing information in the text message later to make another call or save it in their address book on the handset. This is particularly useful for callers on the go who can't stop to write down the listing.
"Wireless users want simple and efficient access to the information they need," said Tom Moran, executive director of product development for Verizon LiveSource. "As the wholesale provider of directory assistance services to the major wireless carriers in the U.S., we are answering these demands by enhancing the 411 experience through personalization and by leveraging the convenience of text messaging."
Verizon LiveSource is the nation's leading provider of directory assistance to the wireless industry, handling well over half a billion 411 calls every year. LiveSource is continuing to differentiate itself in the marketplace by offering more personalized and robust features to its wireless customers. Additional data-centric services are currently in development.
