Kazakhstan’s Interest in Trans-Caspian Pipeline Project Genuine – PM
ASTANA. April 24 (Interfax) – Kazak Prime Minister Karim Masimov said that his country’s interest in the project to build trans- Caspian oil and gas pipelines has nothing to do with politics.
“There is no political angle here. Economic benefit is the only issue,” Masimov said at a press briefing in Astana on Tuesday.
“The position of the previous and current governments on the Trans-Caspian pipeline is as follows: any transportation of energy must benefit the nation. The government will move in the direction that will benefit our country and to where the [hydrocarbons] will be reasonable to export,” he said.
Kazakhstan is considering the possibility of joining the planned construction of Trans-Caspian pipelines.
