May 2–As a result of the water main break this morning, Metro is expecting to continue re-routing buses on six routes that serve the Eastlake area south of the University Bridge at least through the afternoon commute.

Routes 49, 66, 70, 71, 72 and 73 are affected. If the bridge is not reopened today, Metro’s 83 night owl will be affected overnight. Information about the re-routed buses is available on Metro’s web site, http://transit.metrokc.gov/, or by calling Metro’s rider information office at (206) 553-3000.

Once the bridge is reopened, it could take up to two hours for the buses to return to normal schedules.

While the re-route buses affect people traveling to and from the Eastlake area and north Capitol Hill, Metro expects traffic congestion throughout the University District, South Lake Union, Capitol Hill and any of the bridges crossing the Ship Canal and the Montlake Cut. Buses on those routes may face delays.
