OAKLAND, Calif., May 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Bay Area commuters can find improved information about available parking at more than 50 Bay Area Park and Ride lots, including those with connections to BART, at 511.org. By clicking on the scrolling "Breaking News" ticker at 511.org's home page, commuters will find a list of Park and Ride lots that have been recently surveyed and typically found to have available parking. Many lots are served by local transit that connects to a nearby BART station, or provides Transbay service to the San Francisco Transbay Terminal. This improved Park and Ride lot information provides more transportation options for those commutes impacted by the I-580 collapse and I-880 closure.
The updated Park and Ride lot information on 511.org includes the locations of the lot, the transit agency providing service at the lot, and the bus number(s). The detailed Park and Ride lot information is linked to an interactive map that shows the location of the lot plus additional details such as lighting and bike locker availability.
511 reminds commuters that these Park and Ride lots can also be used as carpool and vanpool meeting points.
Drivers navigating through routes made more crowded by the freeway collapse and closure are encouraged to switch to alternative transportation save time and alleviate traffic congestion throughout the region.
To access the new Park and Ride lot information, go to http://www.511.org/ and click on I-580/I-880 incident information.
