Central Florida's regional public-transit service is recognizing an Orlando bus driver for saving a woman from an attacker at a bus stop.
Lynx bus driver Patricia Ward is being called a hero after she thwarted an attack by a man who came out of the woods, attacked the victim, and tried to drag her back into the woods, The Orlando Sentinel reported Monday.
Lynx spokesman Matt Friedman said the driver parked her bus and warned the passengers to stay onboard while she helped the woman.
She put herself in harm's way, he said. "She didn't know what to expect. Whatever she did, she was a hero.
She said, 'Well I was just doing my job,' said Friedman. She showed that there are good people out there.
