Gunman Shoots 5 Aboard Chicago City Bus
May 10, 2007
CHICAGO – Five teenage passengers were shot while riding a Chicago Transit Authority bus on the city’s South Side on Thursday, authorities said.
The victims were all taken to area hospitals, said Chicago Police spokesman Tom Polick. No information was immediately available about their conditions.
A “lone offender” ran southbound after the shooting, Assistant Deputy Superintendent Eugene Williams said at a news conference. It was not immediately clear whether the shooter was inside or outside of the bus when the shots were fired.
Williams asked the public to call in with tips.
The driver quickly pulled the bus over to a spot she believed was safe, said CTA spokeswoman Sheila Gregory.
