Scandinavian Airlines Threatens Crew Lockout International Traveler / Update: LONDON
May 18, 2007
Scandinavian Airlines, the Nordic region’s biggest carrier, plans to start a lockout against cabin crews in Sweden on May 28 in a contract dispute.
Flight attendants who are members of the Swedish Salaried Employees Union will be blocked from working as of that day and this should bring a “swift resolution” to the dispute, the company said in an e-mail statement Wednesday.
About 800 flight attendants planned to walk off their jobs on May 25, protesting what they say is management’s failure to negotiate a new contract. The airline has offered cabin crew a three-year contract in line with market rates, SAS said.
