Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) and City of Palmdale officials hailed the decision by United Airlines to continue offering low-fare tickets for travel from LA/Palmdale Regional Airport (PMD).

Nonstop scheduled service by United starts June 7 with two daily roundtrip jet flights between PMD and San Francisco International Airport where travelers can connect to dozens of domestic and international destinations. San Francisco is one of the top markets from PMD and the Southern California region.

Sample fares from PMD to U.S. destinations on United for the week of July 12 - 19 are each way, based on required roundtrip purchase:

 $ 93 - San Francisco $143 - Portland, OR $210 - Denver $153 - Seattle $127 - Salt Lake City $200 - Chicago $288 - New York $215 - Washington, D.C. $155 - Sacramento

See Fare Facts at www.united.com or your preferred travel agent for restrictions and other requirements. United's promotional fares are being offered indefinitely. Prices vary depending on demand and seats book quickly so reserve early.

"We are pleased United is making it attractive for travelers in the High Desert to experience the convenience and money-saving advantages of LA/Palmdale Regional Airport," said Samson Mengistu, LAWA's acting executive director. "LA/Palmdale will offer free parking, and a stress-free environment for airport check-in and security screening."

Palmdale Mayor Jim Ledford added, "It is obvious that United Airlines is serious about having a presence in the Antelope Valley and we appreciate their on-going efforts to provide jet air service with fares that are comparable to other airports in the region. We are very excited and optimistic about the new jet service coming to LA/Palmdale."

PMD newly named airport manager, Robert Gluck, said, "Community response to the new United service has been encouraging. We are particularly gratified by the show of support we see from the travel industry that includes travel agencies, hotels, rental car companies, and taxicab and limousine operators."

PMD's passenger terminal at 41000 20th Street East in Palmdale has been remodeled in preparation for the opening of the airport on June 7. For further information on LA/Palmdale Regional Airport please visit www.lawa.org/flylapalmdale/.
