China has launched a new remote sensing satellite for scientific research.
The China Academy of Space Technology said the satellite will be used for land resources surveying, crop yield estimate and disaster forecasting, the state-run Xinhua news agency said Friday.
A tiny satellite weighing just over two pounds was launched at the same time. The so-called pico satellite will be used for research into micro-electronics, the Chinese news service said.
