India Donates 13m Dollars to Tajik Power Plant

Dushanbe, 1 June: A memorandum of understanding on the reconstruction and modernization of the Varzob-1 hydroelectric power station will be signed between the Tajik and Indian governments in Dushanbe very soon, the Ministry of Energy and Industry has told Asia-Plus.

The source said the memorandum, which was approved by the Tajik government yesterday, would be signed by Energy and Industry Minister Sherali Gulov and the Indian ambassador to Tajikistan, Amar Sinha.

India has allocated 13m dollars as a no-strings grant for the reconstruction and modernization of the Varzob-1 hydroelectric power station with the capacity of 7,400 kW.

It has to be said that an agreement on the reconstruction of the Varzob-1 hydroelectric power station with the help of the Indian side was reached during President Emomali Rahmon’s visit to India.
