Dushanbe, 5 June: The Russian ambassador to Tajikistan, Ramazan Abdulatipov, and President Emomali Rahmon discussed issues relating to the forthcoming meeting and talks between the Russian and Tajik presidents, as well as the process of preparations for a regular summit of the CIS heads of state in Dushanbe.

The presidential press service said that the sides had also discussed construction work at the Sangtuda-1 hydroelectric power station and prospects for developing bilateral cooperation in the fields of hydro energy, mining and oil and gas extraction in Tajikistan.

Ramazan Abdulatipov noted that Russia was interested in the implementation of Tajikistan’s energy projects, and, above all, the construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power station, as well as the extraction of oil and gas.

The Russian diplomat stressed that his country should pay attention to raising the image and potential of Tajikistan in resolving interstate issues.

The officials expressed the hope that the forthcoming meeting between the presidents of the two countries would give a new impetus to economic cooperation between Russia and Tajikistan.
