Global ePoint Wins $8 Million Contract for Electronic Flight Bag With Thai Airways System Is Scalable and Applicable to Other Aviation Markets

Posted on: Tuesday, 5 June 2007, 15:00 CDT

CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif., June 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Global ePoint, Inc. (GEPT.PK), a leading manufacturer of security technologies for the aviation, law enforcement, commercial and industrial markets, today announced that its Aviation division, Global AirWorks, has received its first Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) contract for aircraft operated by Thai Airways International Public Limited Airlines. The $8 million contract also has $1.2 million of options, that if exercised, would bring the total value of the contract to $9.2 million. The contract is for the installation of a fully integrated electronic flight bag to include cockpit door surveillance and cargo door recording applications on Thai Airways fleet of passenger aircraft.

"Global AirWorks is very pleased to embark on this program for such a world recognized Flag Carrier," said Ricky Frick, President of Global AirWorks. "Due to the elimination of more than 40 pounds of paper manuals, charts and other documentation as well as the EFB's ability to navigate to more favorable wind conditions, airlines receive an immediate return on their investment through reduced fuel consumption and a decrease in labor cost for the revision of manuals and pilot advisories. Because the EFB is fully integrated with cockpit door surveillance and cargo door recording features, this return is further increased through reduced insurance costs and by helping combat potential terrorist threats and air rage incidents."

The EFB is an electronic information management device that helps flight crews perform flight management tasks more easily and efficiently with less paper. It is a general purpose computing platform intended to reduce, or replace paper based reference material often found in the pilots carry on flight bag, including the Aircraft Operating manual, Aircrew operating manual, and Navigational Charts. The EFB is a cockpit resource management tool that can incorporate a variety of software suites. In addition, the EFB can host purpose built software applications to automate other functions normally conducted by hand such as performance take off calculations, weight and balance, and en-route performance calculations. The EFB fully integrates cockpit door surveillance and cargo door recording applications to enhance passenger safety and cargo security.

"With the development of the first fully integrated EFB and surveillance suite, AirWorks' has differentiated itself in the marketplace," said Chief Daryl Gates, President of Global ePoint. Our integrated solution for fuel savings, security surveillance, cockpit resource management and risk management provides airlines with immediate and long lasting benefits. For Global ePoint, the development of this modular, fully scalable system positions us to address multiple markets in commercial, corporate and VIP aviation worldwide.
