Have Proper System in Place
By D.S.
I RECENTLY returned from a holiday in Langkawi with my family. We returned to the mainland on a Malaysia Airlines flight.
During this journey, I noted an embarrassing situation both at the departure hall and on board the aircraft at Langkawi airport.
While at the departure hall, the MAS ground crew announced that passengers with children were to board first. However, instead of families with children boarding first, single adults and couples were seen leaving the departure hall and boarding the aircraft.
The MAS ground crew did not make any effort to control the passengers as they started boarding, oblivious to the earlier announcements.
In the aircraft, there was chaos when passengers started jamming the aisle, each wanting to get to their seats.
It was an embarrassing moment. To avoid such situations, MAS should ensure that the ground crew exercises strict control over the passengers and ensures instructions are adhered to.
Perhaps the passengers should be released in groups of 10 or more, with the families boarding first.
This will avoid a jam in the aircraft.
Another way would be to announce the seat numbers that are to be boarded first (beginning with seats at the tail end of aircraft). I know that this system is commonly used by other airlines.
