June 7 — Rog — Poppy and The Red Shed Are on YouTube
By Roger Phillips, The Idaho Statesman, Boise
Jun. 7–If you’ve never heard of Poppy and The Red Shed Fly Shop in Peck, you’re probably not a steelhead angler. But if you want to check out a true Idaho original, he’s featured on YouTube.
Mike “Poppy” Cummins owns and operates one of the largest Spey fishing fly shops in the West from its namesake, a small red shed. He’s a classic case of an Idaho individualist who melded low tech with high tech. His shop is in a shack, but he does business with people all over the world via the Internet. They seek his expertise, passion and inventory of all things Spey fishing.
There’s a five-minute mini documentary about him on YouTube. Click here to view the video.
