SEATTLE, June 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Alteon Training, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company , and Northwest Airlines today announced they have signed an agreement to provide flight training for airlines on seven aircraft types at Northwest's World Headquarters at Eagan, Minnesota.

As part of the agreement, Northwest Airlines and Alteon will place a Boeing 787 full flight simulator and other 787 training equipment at NWA's training center by April 2008. Alteon will have exclusive rights to market excess simulator training time to all 787 operators and provide customers with additional training services at Northwest's training center.

In addition, Alteon will use its proprietary courseware and course materials, computer-based training, instructors and administration to provide training to airlines throughout the world on the Boeing 747-400, 747-200, 757 and DC9 aircraft types, as well as the Airbus A320 and A330.

"We are proud to partner with Northwest Airlines to provide training solutions on a range of Boeing and Airbus models," said Alteon President Sherry Carbary. "In particular, this allows Alteon to provide 787 operators with yet another training location in the United States with world class training capabilities."

Carbary also noted, "The joint marketing agreement not only allows Alteon to provide closer-to-home access to other airlines, it will increase training capabilities and asset utilization without a large capital outlay, which is in line with our company's strategy for the future."

"Northwest is pleased to join the Alteon global network to provide NWA and other airlines with world-class training offerings including the 787 Dreamliner," said Tim Campbell, vice president of flight operations/system operations control administration. "Alteon's unparalleled operational and marketing experience makes them our ideal training partner."

Northwest Airlines is the first North American carrier for the 787 Dreamliner with the initial delivery in August 2008. NWA has ordered 18 787-8s plus options and purchase rights for 50 additional Dreamliners. Northwest serves 240 destinations in 26 countries throughout North America, Asia and Europe.

Alteon Training is the world's aviation training partner of choice and the industry leader in providing airline-focused aviation training solutions. The company provides its partners an expanding and integrated services portfolio that includes flight, technical and cabin-crew training.
